People are buying them because they are:
1. affordable
2. small/compact
3. easy to use
4.great to use while doing physical activities
5. and can hold a decent amount of music for their size

umm money has no issue, its a shit product, and you can get somehting 10 times better for half the price which isnt apple. Thats the point hes making.

There is no point to a Nano or Shuffle..yeah it’s small but it doesn’t have any space to it, your better off getting a 30gb (only in apple stores, not at apple.com) and paying…I think it’s $150. There are good armband cases for them, and also you can hold a lot more music on them. The nano and shuffle are just beyond stupid now

The little squareish shuffles were great, convenient and useful,
the newest slim one with the controls actually on the headset is a bit silly I think
I tend to just blare music out of large speakers when i’m playing guitar and stuff and I don’t really have a desperate need for a portable mp3 player, but the shuffle can come in handy sometimes

The nano is too expensive (150bucks for an mp3 player?) and touch controls are stupid. I don’t want to have to look at my MP3 player every time I want to skip a song or pause or whatever.
And the iPod touch is just way too big to be a MP3 player.
I’ll probably by a 3rd generation shuffle soon. It’s smaller and has more memory than the new one.

Customer in Apple store looking around has a burning need to spend money. Shuffle is cute. Comes in different colors. The iPod Shuffle is inexpensive so they bite. Last but not least potential customer may not know any better.

Hey, fanboy! why tha hell do you think that everything gets better with touch? An mp3 player with touch is just crap. It should be as simple as posible. And you should be able switch song without seeing the device.
