There are plenty of people reviewing applications on the iPhone, and this is highly understandable. It is a new market and people like to see what they are getting into when they are about to purchase something. For this reason there are many different kinds of people reviewing applications on the iPhone. Some of these people work for a company, some have their own show on the Web and choose to use this as a medium to review apps, and still others simply want to let others know how amazing or horrible a certain application is. The applications being reviewed are generally games.

For reviewing purposes, game applications on the iPhone are most prevalent. Yes, there are wonderful applications that will tell you what song you are listening to; there are digital compass applications; there are even applications that will tell you movie times in your area. But the most prevalent applications for reviewing purposes are games.

The games for the iPhone are the fastest rising market since Playstation 2 came out. Not only are there no cartridges, discs or memory cards involved, it is entirely based on a touch screen that you can bring with you anywhere you want. The graphics are all based on the skill of the developer(s).

The majority of developers are independent, however the best-selling ones are also developers of games on major gaming systems and platforms. You can usually see this in the game reviews and in the graphical difference due to funding and experience, however many independent producers do manage to put out good, successful games.

Not all games are action and graphic based, though. There are many successful word games and number games that are being offered that get great reviews and make a good amount of money. In fact, most of these games are highly addicting, and their most valuable qualities are how smoothly they run without bugging.

Possibly the most controversial part of iPhone applications is the use of advertisements. Mostly, they are used in lite versions – shorter or watered down versions of the application – in an attempt to get the users to purchase the full version, offering the incentive of no advertisements in the full version.
